1. Below are three links to three very popular animes or categories
2. You can use any style you want. Don't care if you grunge, vector, abstract,

3. All three scans have some sort of "bad quality" to it.
4. It could be that there is text covering the chara, or that it is hard to
extract; either way, that is part of the challenge.

links for. These images were selected pretty much at random, taken into
consideration what other walls have done. These are generally the not so popular
scans people wall.
6. Appropriation - Please read the following sentence I have typed:

This means the categories Anime wallpapers,

Definition is as follows:
1. NO scans of anime, games or
celebrities may be used.
2. Doujinshi, original sketches, and manga scans are ok.
3. You may colour these scans yourself or vector them as you like.
4. Preferably this is incorporated into a WALLPAPER.
5. Stock photos may be used.

APPROPRIATION: definition AS FOLLOWS
1. Below are three links to three very popular animes or categories
2. You can use any style you want. Don't care if you grunge, vector, abstract, flip it, rotate it, crop it, cut it, invert it- it's up to you.
3. All three scans have some sort of "bad quality" to it.
4. It could be that there is text covering the chara, or that it is hard to extract; either way, that is part of the challenge.
5. Pick ONE of the scans I have provided links for. These images were selected pretty much at random, taken into consideration what other walls have done. These are generally the not so popular scans people wall.
6. Appropriation - Please read the following sentence I have typed:
There is no darkness where there is light
Use this as a basis to create the theme of your wall. It ties in well for all 3 scans, so nobody should have any trouble. The {Monthly} UnderAppreciated Group Competition
As soon as this guestbook entry is time marked 2 weeks ago, your time is up!
We have decided to conduct a competition for our group ^^
So what is this for?
Well, we thought that this would be a great idea to get members to look at each other's stuff, and it's just a bit of fun so that you can think through what you want to do with this (^_~)
Basically we give out a theme or category and sometimes even a theme sentence you must incorporate into the wallpaper or a sentence you must complete ^_^
This month's theme is ORIGINAL
The time limit is 2 weeks... so start as soon as you get this gbook entry ^^
(Original)
This means the categories Anime wallpapers, General wallpapers, doujinshi, Abstract art
Definition is as follows:
1. NO scans of anime, games or celebrities may be used.
2. Doujinshi, original sketches, and manga scans are ok.
3. You may colour these scans yourself or vector them as you like.
4. Preferably this is incorporated into a WALLPAPER.
5. Stock photos may be used.
Rules:
1. Tutorials are allowed to help you, but bear in mind that it is very obvious when you use tutorials
2. You cannot use the above mentioned scans, even if you invert them or vector them.
3. Vectors are allowed. Scans that are coloured by manga groups are NOT allowed.
4. The wallpaper does not necessarily have to include a character. It can be a landscape you have created if you wish.
5. It may be a abstract wall for desktop use if you wish, though keep in mind they need endless experimentation and extensive knowledge of filters.
Judging criteria:
1. Technicality/ balance of overall composition
2. Colour combination
3. Originality/ artistic expression (message being carried out)
4. Overall feel/ reception of audience
5. Relevance to the theme
Judging rules:
1. Number of layers is not taken into account for judging
2. Amount of time taken to make it is not considered
3. Member's level number, reputation or experience not taken into account
4. Number of favourites, comments, downloads and views of entry not taken into account
5. Accuracy of the application of PS filters not taken in account to prevent members from using tutorials
Judges:
1. Are not members of the group
2. Are willing to make unbiased judgements and some critical comments, not necessarily on each work, but as an overall conclusion
3. Even if they are a friend of a member of the group, she/he must be fair in their judgement and justify her/his choice. This has been changed because it is impossible to find members who are not friends of the members of our group. Urgg. Anyway.
4. Will mark the wallpapers in terms of artistic composition and originality
5. May take up to a week to reach a conclusion, to put a label: 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the top 3 wallpapers
Members:
1. Also vote on the wallpapers and lend out their comments.
2. There will be a "member voted" wall.
3. For votes, you have three votes 1, 2 and 3. First being the one you like the most, down to the third. You do NOT vote for yourself.
4. Members will favourite the wallpapers they LIKE THE most. This doesn't mean the one you put down first or second etc. but do make an effort to support the wall you feel deserved a fave.
5. Will try to not seek external help, and if they cannot meet the deadline, contact in advance.
Extra info:
1. From the second time onwards, there'll be a new winner called "most improved" that everyone will vote for.
2. Obviously the more entries we receive, the more fun this will be
3. Please try to make an effort and respond to these competition notices. Please POST IN THE group guestbook whether OR NOT YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE
4. When you have finished your wallpaper, you post a link in the group guestbook, and in the gallery description, write that it is for the UnderAppreciated Group competition so we will know where to find it. Preferably paste in a link to the group page so that other members can see other works.
Preferably upload your wallpaper when it is close to your deadline to prevent other members seeing your ideas. If MT is down, do not panic. We will know you were late because of that.
5. A day after the deadline, check back as quickly as possible to see the links piled up in the information section so you can look at the works.
6. Even if you have not submitted an entry, you may still vote
7. Interested members who see this notice and are interested in judging, please contact us
8. Judges' decision should be final. Apologies if you feel you have been cheated etc. but such are the facts of life- there is always next time. (>_<)
9. Please do not give out offensive or ridiculously mean comments. This competition is done in good spirit, and is only just like a game to see what creative minds think of

i apologise because I don't have much time to spare and I hate to say I'm copying and pasting this to most members of the group =.=
Anyway, I'm writing to ask you to check the group page http://groups.minitokyo.net/theunderappreciated/ because we are in a group discussion
There have been a few complaints and it has been decided that the group needs reform, and the best way to solve these problems is by expressing your views, how you feel, and feel free to make any suggestions. Here are the 4 main issues we are concentrating on:
01. Underappreciated/ Appreciated Paradox~ People come here to be appreciated. Some feel they are even more unappreciated due to this group, because it ironically has an inverse effect :/
02. Popular Submissions We need to feature underappreciated walls. Not those who are getting plenty of attention.
03. Member Selection Criteria Can be harsh, or can be ok at the moment. There needs to be some ammendment.
4. Member Activity Yes. There are some inactive members (hahaha...)
